Thank you for your support

The six-mile walk through Norwich took in scenes including the gorgeous Bishopsgate, the cobbled streets of Norwich Lanes, and even skirted the edge of the famous Carrow Road, home to Norwich City Football team. It was a warm but cloudy day, perfect for the 200 walkers to set the pace and turn heads to raise money and awareness for a great cause.
The walk was designed to raise funds for services who provide free legal support to those on the lowest incomes.
Norfolk Family Mediation Service is a registered charity and relies on the support of generous individuals and grant makers to continue our work. We offer free mediation to those eligible for Legal Aid and work hard to ensure that people get the free help and support they are entitled to.
"Even though mediation is free for those eligible for Legal Aid, many people are simply not aware that Legal Aid for mediation exists," says Gemma Walpole, Chief Executive of Norfolk Family Mediation Service. "As a mediation charity we believe it is our responsibility to let people know that mediation can be free, and to help as many people as possible benefit."
Mediation has many benefits, including offering a faster, cheaper alternative to a battle through the courts. It can also help parents disagreeing over child contact issues come to an agreement that works for everyone, especially children. Research shows that children of separated parents are more likely to suffer from anxiety and struggle at school, however good quality parenting and a stable home-life can help. By encouraging parents to talk calmly and make decisions that put their children fist, mediation can give children a brighter future, improving their wellbeing and that of their parents.
Sponsored events are a great way to support a charity like Norfolk Family Mediation Service. Not only do they raise vital funds, but they also help to raise awareness and spread the word, encouraging more people to give mediation a go.
"With help, we can support families going through separation or experiencing child contact issues, helping them avoid distressing court battles and achieve better outcomes for a happy future," concludes Gemma. "But we do need help from individuals and companies to raise the funds we need to be there for families who need us."
